Watamu beach wedding: Laragh and Niall

‘We met through Niall’s sister, Ruth, who was a colleague of mine. She invited us both out to dinner with a bunch of other people and we ended up sitting beside each other (we’re not sure if that was a set up or not, but it worked out well anyway!). Niall asked Ruth for my number and asked me on a date. It was quite a busy summer for me and I was happy enjoying life, so I found it hard to fit him into my schedule, but eventually managed to assign him an hour slot before I had to go to Tesco in preparation for a friend’s hen the next day!! I remember laughing a lot and thinking I’d assign him more time on the next date – if he asked. Which he did, and it took off from there, with lots of laughter along the way.’

And the way led us to this gorgeous, sunny day in Watamu.

There was some serious craic at this party. 😀 So much so, Niall was in a boot from a stag-related injury and just the day before had banged his nose on the edge of the pool. However, nothing could stop this day from being anything short of perfect.

There were few challenges along the way, the greatest being organizing a Watamu wedding from Dublin- ‘It was difficult to imagine, difficult to organise and get in touch with people, difficult to get stuff there. But thankfully so many wonderful people helped make it all come together, including Mum, who was amazing throughout. Another big challenge at one stage was Kenya’s reputation in the international media and some of the news stories that were happening in the months before the wedding. I worried that everyone would be scared of coming to Kenya (and I think there were those who were), but in the end every single person who travelled over flung themselves wholeheartedly into the whole trip, and just loved the country, the trip, and the whole experience.’

Finally, Laragh and Niall would like to send a shout out to:

Every single person who joined us – we loved having everyone there and had such fun.

There were so many special moments in the whole thing … Planning with Mum was great and I loved all the creativity, the group safari before the wedding was brilliant and really wonderful getting to know some of Niall’s friends and family better, the days at the coast in the lead up to the wedding were so special and wonderful, then the day itself came together, it was beautiful, just how I imagined, and amazing seeing so many wonderful people there, the food was delicious, and the cake …it was so delicious! All the dancing just great, smiles all night, and finished with a sunrise dip in the Indian ocean, just brilliant!!’

L+N, thank you so much for having us. You were wonderful to shoot for and we enjoyed being part of another Larsen wedding.

It’s by the same architect Anna! Just a little bit down the road from the Treehouse. Remember where we could see some kind of lake or pond when the sun was setting? Down there. 🙂
