Early on in our career working together as wedding photographers, my partner and I had front row seats the stress, heartache and drama that were part of planning a big wedding. A lot of times the machinery of the wedding industry and family pressure would grind couples right down into accepting products and services that didn't serve them nor celebrate their individuality. 

We'd put off our own wedding for a while until one evening, sitting on the couch, I jokingly told Theo. 'Let's just elope.' 'Is that even an option?' he asked. So we looked it up and two weeks later were getting married at the Nairobi Attorney Generals in front of a handful of friends and family. We had lovely slow day at at home with gorgeous food and wine, played music, drank wine and danced till late in the night. It was a bit silly, irreverent, and now when I look at the pictures my friend Barbara made, so beautiful and just so us.
