I’ve always been sort of meh about the Warburton Redwood Forest. Sure, the plantation of Californian giant sequoia trees is pretty stunning. The rows and rows of enormous trees, the cathedral-like silence underneath it, giant bats roosting overhead, the complete lack of competing flora in and around the redwoods, it can feel quite eerie at times. Give me an unruly aussie native forest any day! But I saw it with new eyes when I had the opportunity to photograph the loveliest little family for whom the Redwood forest has significance. It’s tied up with so much of their story.
I’m not ashamed to say that I was wrong. There is so much life at the Redwoods! There is a beautiful harmony to the plantation and native forest, with the gorgeous Cement Creek gurgling it’s way through it. You really must come and see if for yourself and when you do, you should book me for your family photos. 🙂
